YMCA Thames Gateway Group is proud to announce that its Romford-based pre-school team has been honoured with the Early Years SEND Award by the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham (LBBD), recognising the setting as one “committed to inclusion.”

Presented by the Head of Early Years at LBBD on Friday 11 July, this award celebrates the pre-school’s outstanding commitment to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The recognition highlights the team’s use of evidence-based interventions, creative practices and inclusive learning environments to ensure every child can thrive.

Jade Dean-Palmer, Pre-school Manager at YMCA Romford, expressed her pride in the achievement: “We are all over the moon, and it means a lot to me and the team that our hard work with children with Special Educational Needs has been celebrated like this.”

The LBBD panel noted the team’s dedication: “They are experienced at embedding a range of evidence-based interventions, using innovation and creativity. All the children are making good progress; this is evidenced by the tracking and observations from outside agencies. From the manager down, everyone has a role to play in creating this inclusive and inviting provision, investing in creating an enabling environment for the children with SEND.”

CEO of YMCA Thames Gateway Group, Matt Jones, added: “This award is a testament to the passion and professionalism of our pre-school team. Their commitment to inclusive practice ensures that every child is seen, supported, and celebrated. We are incredibly proud of Jade and her team for the positive difference they make every day to the lives of children and families in our community.”

YMCA Thames Gateway Group remains committed to creating inclusive and nurturing environments across all its services, continuing to advocate for equity and opportunity for every child.
