YMCA Romford was built in the 1960s and has provided a safe place for people to stay ever since. With 148 young people staying in its rooms every night, the building has seen a lot of change and the accommodation is no longer what is expected. As the building has aged, it’s become harder to maintain as well so the time has come to redevelop the site.

A lot of research and due diligence has to go into this project to ensure that we provide something that is needed by the community we serve, and it’s not going to happen overnight. However, the first phase has been completed, with a comprehensive report produced. This report will provide an overview of what the various stakeholders that use the building want and need from the space, and will provide some guidance to the project group that will oversee the redevelopment.

We’re pleased to make this available to you, and will update this page with developments as they happen.
