In October 2021, Dave Ball our CEO shared with the Group Board that this strategic period would be his last. In April, Dave shared with me that after over 30 years of service, it is time for him to complete his time with YMCA Thames Gateway Group.
He has served in a variety of roles within YMCA, starting as a Housing Support Worker and progressing to be a CEO in 2000 before becoming the CEO at Thames Gateway Group. He has held leadership roles locally, nationally and internationally and served through good times and more challenging seasons. The YMCA that Dave took leadership of in 2003 is now very different, not least on the size and scale of its operations, and the increased geographical area it serves.
YMCA Thames Gateway Group has a rich history and a great future. We are connected to YMCA’s across the UK and the world.
Although we will be sad to see him go, we are excited about the future and look forward to the prospect of recruiting his successor. As you might imagine, the Board have a plan in place which will ensure a smooth succession. This plan will be worked out over the next six months or so, with our aspiration being that the new CEO will be in place early in the New Year. We expect to commence the recruitment in September so do look out for the announcement.
In the meantime, the Board and Dave will work together to ensure that YMCA Thames Gateway Group is in the strongest possible health during the transition period.
